Frontend engineer for well-established EdTech-startup

Intro

Have you ever attended an educational institution, where something could have been executed better by the institution - classes, social environment, activities, prospects? Or have you ever needed help from the teachers, study counselor or management - but did not really get it (or sought it out)?.

Then you are not unique! But you could be.

At StudentPulse, we work every day to revolutionise the educational sector through our platform. It brings student needs, opinions, and well-being to the center of every educational institution, and right now we are looking for that one coworker. The one who can ensure that hundreds of thousands of students become successful, so that our customers become successful.

The role

As our new Frontend Software Engineer at StudentPulse, you will be an integral part of our our Engineering team. You will work across range of products with a focus on main application layer.

How will your usual day look like?

Every morning you will start by reviewing your colleagues pull request and check the progress on your work. After that you will have a brief catchup with tech team where you will discuss progress, any potential blockers, any pair programming sessions and of course listen to few bad jokes along the way 🤓 . After that, you will be able to do work with as minimal distractions as possible. Before calling it a day you will update pull request for team members to review.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Planning and participating in product lifecycle from ideation phase to release
  • Collaborate with product & engineering team. You can read about our Engineering culture in Notion
  • Collaborate closely with UI designer
  • Implementing new and maintaining current features in across products
  • Constantly improve, clean up, update and automate existing codebase
  • Improve documentation in our inner documentation portal
  • Onboard and mentor other developers

  • Tailwind
  • Typescript
  • Cypress

Your background

First and foremost: We value personality over subject knowledge, and we hire as such. In a (well-established) startup, one of the key points for success is to have the right dynamic and the right drive in the team. We have each others’ back, and we have fun when we are at work - both with coworkers and with our customers.

With that said: You do not have to be able to say yes to every point on the following list, but the more the merrier:

  • Devoted: It hurts you when it hurts the customers
  • Proactive: You do not just sit and wait for improvement, you actively take initiative and improve it
  • Caring: You have an interest in your fellow students, perhaps as a member of the student council
  • Brave: You do not hesitate and take ownership of your work

Bonus points if you:

  • Have worked in high paced work environment before. We are still in the process of finding what is the best and efficient way of doing things
  • Have work experience with Vue
  • Have tinkered around with data visualisation
  • Have an understanding of HTTP lifecycle
  • Have heard about PHP/Laravel
  • Have a flair for UI/UX design
